It’s no secret that the Fighting Game Community is great at a lot of things. We have outrageously talented players, the hypest commentators in the business, incredible visual artists, world-class writers (if I do say so myself), and more. The only thing we have a hard time attracting is esports money.
Still, we know that we can accomplish great things by starting small and putting in the work. That’s where Matcherino comes in. Matcherino is a platform that helps event organizers connect with sponsors, run crowdfunding drives, set up donation incentives, and more. And this is no fly-by-night organization: it has endorsements from Daigo Umehara and Zhi, Arturo “Sabin” Sanchez uses it every week at Next Level Battle Circuit, and it’s the platform that r/StreetFighter uses for its extremely successful player sponsorship drives.
So if you’re a fan of the FGC and you see a blurb for Matcherino during an event, don’t tune it out! That’s your chance to put some money into the scene for free. Yes, for free: many events have codes that you can enter to increase the prize pool, and all of them have sponsor quests that cost nothing to complete (such as liking a Facebook page or retweeting a tweet). The amounts of money for each individual action are typically small, but that’s all the more reason for all of us to participate.
Any Tournament Organizers who are interested in working with Matcherino should read up on their partnership program, which explains more about the features listed above. No event is too large or too small, and Matcherino has demonstrated a true desire to understand the particulars of the FGC and to work with us. Give them a look, and if you decide to sign up, tell them toptier sent you!
