2019 Esports Awards Has Nominated These Fine Folk from the Fighting Game Community

The Esports Awards 2019 nominees have been announced.

The Esports Awards seeks to recognize people who have had a great impact within e-sports. The categories are far ranging from the pro players down to the community members.

You can vote for your favorite nominees here.

Here, we want to highlight the nominees from our own Fighting Game Community:

Console Player

  • Sonic Fox – Champion NRS, Skullgirls, and Dragonball Fighterz player.
  • Hungry Box – Legendary Jigglypuff player in Smash Bros. Melee.
  • MK Leo – Star Smash WiiU and Ultimate player who recently won Evolution 2019.

Console Rookie

  • MK Leo – Nabbing 2 awards possibly.
  • Tweek – Top Pokemon Trainer player who has also ranked highly in Smash WiiU with Bayonetta and Cloud.

Content Creator

  • Xavier Woods – Pro Wrestler from the WWE who has championed fighting games.


  • Kitty Kaboom – Talented cosplayer that does a lot of fighting game based work and a big supporter of the FGC.


  • Stephanie “Vexanie” Lindgren – Amazing photographer who captured some of the biggest moments in FGC tournaments this year, namely, Tasty Steve’s hype on a table and Arslan Ash’s grateful victory at Evolution 2019.

Esports Organization of the Year

  • Team Liquid – Sponsoring many amazing players like Ken, Chillndude, Hungrybox, Dabuz, ChuDat, Nemo, Gen, and John Takeuchi
  • Team Vitality – Sponsoring Hurricane from the UK.

Breakthrough Game

  • Smash Ultimate – The game with every single Smash Bros. character and more.

Esports Game of the Year

  • Street Fighter V – The game to spearhead fighting games into e-sports.

Esports Publisher of the Year

  • Capcom – The original fighting game publisher.
