The Street Fighter V Summer Update has just been announced with new characters and events revealed.
The Street Fighter League (SFL) is starting a new season with new players for both the United States and Japan. Six teams and 18 players will face off again in October 2020.
The six US teams that will face off are:
- All In
- iDom
- Phenom
- 801 Strider
- UYU
- Oil King
- NL
- Kami
- Alpha 3
- Punk
- CJ Truth
- Nephew
- NASR Esports
- Big Bird
- Angrybird
- Samurai
- Psycho Shinobi
- Hotdog29
- Infexious
- Xian
- Dynamite
- Problem X
- Nuckledu
- Smug
The announcement also came with what most people were waiting for, the new character reveals. Kenny Omega, Nakayama, and Matsumoto shared basically the names and some thoughts on why they were picked for the upcoming season 5 roster.
The 5 characters revealed are:
- Dan [Winter 2020]
- Rose [Spring 2021]
- Oro [Summer 2021]
- Akira Kazama (from Rival Schools) [Summer 2021]
- To be revealed [Fall 2021]
Dan was the only character to show any game play as the other characters are still early in development. The biggest surprise was Akira from Rival Schools making it her first appearance in any game in 20 years.

Lastly, the Capcom developers revealed their tentative release schedule with their Season 5 roadmap:
