Mark “Markman” Julio is a unique figure in the Fighting Game Community. He has never been a world-class competitor and he isn’t a celebrity tournament organizer who has his own signature event, but he’s still an FGC icon. That’s because he’s been a key contributor the scene for well over ten years. In that time, Julio has worked with several controller manufacturers, including MadCatz, Victrix, HORI, Qanba, and Razer; the Tekken World Tour; ELEAGUE; the World Series of Esports; ten/o Productions; and the Evolution Championship Series.
Shortly before the global outbreak of COVID-19, he visited Nick “Tasteless” Plott’s eponymous Tasteless Podcast. There, the two talked about Julio’s voluminous background in the FGC, the challenges of making and marketing fighting games, and a whole lot more. Watch the full video below, then make sure to explore the official Tasteless Podcast YouTube channel for interviews with more FGCers, including Evo president Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar, Smash commentator Victoria “VikkiKitty” Perez, and Tekken legend Hoa “Anakin” Luu.
