Hibiki Takane has been revealed as the Last Blade collaboration character fro Samurai Shodown.
Hibiki Takane is the daughter of a renowned swordsmith name Genzo Takane. One day a mysterious silver-haired man (Setsuna) with an evil aura tasks Genzo to make him a sword and he found himself unable to refuse. Genzo worked on the sword continuously for 3 months and fell bedridden. He tells Hibiki that this man was the reason for his condition and that she should pursue him to get back the sword he forged. After her father’s last words, she sets off to find this silver-haired man.
In the trailer, we see a faithful representation of Hibiki as she played in Last Blade. Hibiki has all of her signature moves such as her quick mid and low Iai sword strike, the running slash, and her counter. The low Iai strike retains the knockdown property that will really help with her footsie game as it will really make opponents sit more still in fear of the low. The counter will also add to the footsie game to make opponents hesitate to retaliate, especially for bad punish attempts. It is unclear if her running slash has the ability to cross over her opponents like in other iterations of the game, but we’ll see once we can play her. Her overall play style will likely consist of playing the mid range game with her sword strikes and then mixing up the approach with the running slash.
You can expect to start playing with her on April 28, 2021.
