In an extra surprise announcement at CEO 2021 tagged on after the end of the huge news that BlazBlue games would be getting rollback netcode, Arc System Works also announced that the perennial fan-favorite samurai, Baiken, would be coming next to Guilty Gear -STRIVE-. Baiken has always been a character beloved by fans of Guilty Gear, with her popularity transcending that of most other characters in the series and being a huge magnet for players and fans of the game. It’s unknown how Baiken’s counter-style of gameplay will be implemented in GGST, as it has seen a different iteration in both XX and Xrd, with different abilities and consequences as a result. Baiken’s general defensive reversal game plan seems like it would be extremely powerful in Guilty Gear -STRIVE- considering the game’s current mechanics and gatling system, so we will have to wait and see if or how she is changed to fit within the current lineup of characters.
