In a post today on the Street Fighter League website, Capcom announced that the United States would be one of the twelve national teams eligible to earn a place in the upcoming Intel World Cup. Japan, the other participant that has already been announced, has its own special slot and does not count towards the twelve preselected nations.
Capcom also gave the dates on which US qualifiers would take place:

- 4/4
- 4/11
- 4/18
- 4/25
- 5/2
- 5/9
- 5/16
Players who wish to participate in this event should make sure that they reserve at least one of these Saturdays.
The exact nature of the qualifying process has still not yet been confirmed, but one images gives a hint as to what the structure might be:
The precise meaning of this image is not explained, but it seems to indicate that each national team will be composed of the top four finishers in a sixty-four-person bracket. This sixty-four-person bracket will, in turn, be filled with the top eight finishers of each of eight online qualifiers.
One way or another, by the end of May, we will know which four US players will represent their country in the run-up to the Olympic Games in Tokyo. (The competition will be three-on-three, but each team will have four players available to use in any given match.)
Further updates will be coming soon, says Capcom. They will announce more teams and details at the Brazil Game Show, which starts in five days on October 9.
