Roll Back Net Code Fan Project Underway for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R

By on April 9, 2020

Roll back net code is in high demand for the Fighting Game Community. The announcement of the development of roll back for Guilty Gear Strive is a huge step to make it a standard. Although the future is bright, this does leave a legacy of games stuck in the delay-based past that probably won’t ever get roll back added. So some fan programmers are taking matters into their own hands to implement this into one of the community’s most beloved games, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R.

Guilty Gear XX AC+R is a (now) classic fighting game is known for its fun fast pace and high skill ceiling. Its creator, Daisuke Ishiwatari, themed the game around rock n’ roll music and has dark Gothic imagery juxtaposed with 90s style anime to make its iconic style. One of its in-game systems, the Roman Cancel (RC) system, grants layers of creativity for all levels of players.

GGPO Plus R is the open source project that will provide a suite of quality of life upgrades along with the roll back net code implementation to GGAC+R. The extra features they’re adding are hitbox viewers and the ability to save and load save states. All of these features will be toggle-able on a toolbar at the top of the game screen. This will be made available as a mod for the steam version of the game (PC Master race!).

They’ve put out a call for volunteers who can help with game reversing & programming so they can finish this exciting project.
