Skullgirls has revealed that a brand new character, Annie, is coming with their Season 1 Pass.

Annie (aka Annie of the Stars) is a character that first made it into the series via the mobile game. Annie’s mother was a previous Skullgirl who wished for Annie to be a child forever and has gained immortality as a result. She hides this fact by changing her hairstyle and works as an actress on a Show based on herself from many generations ago. Her fighting style is aggressive with her advancing moves and dive kick.

The announcement comes with the formal announcement of working with Future Club, the former development team that worked on the bulk of Skullgirls.

Skullgirls was mired in controversy in June of 2020 with one of the lead developers was revealed to have a history of misogyny and causing a toxic work environment. This led to the team essentially leaving the company to form their own company which is now Future Club.

The announcement includes that Future Club will be assisting with the development of all the upcoming characters and content included in Season 1. This is great news to hear as this means that the folks at Future Club are getting good work for being contracted on this project. Having the original team assist will also help to keep all aspects of the game moving forward consistent with the original teams vision and design.

You can support the teams by getting the Season 1 pass here. The pass will include Annie with 3 more unrevealed characters along with a digital art compendium and soundtrack for $34.99.
